Over several weeks each spring, we are always delighted to extend an invitation to students for our inspiring Prague Spring gathering. As we wrap up another immensely successful cycle of CAS Trips’ flagship Global Student Exchange, we are eager to share some insight into what made our Prague Spring 2024 program a true triumph.
This year, we hosted students from 28 schools across 16 countries — ultimately bringing together 525 participants for 11 unique CAS experiences over an itinerary packed with intercultural collaboration and meaningful service.
A City of Endless Inspiration
Prague is incredibly rich in history, architecture, and culture — and the list of activities at Prague Spring is just as diverse as the city itself. Engaging with various UN SDGs, students took part in a homeless walking tour to understand the challenges faced by the city’s less fortunate.
They also participated in a homeless cooking challenge — where teamwork never tasted so good, aligning with SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger. A reflection workshop encouraged students to fully process their experiences, promoting SDG 4: Quality Education, while a street dance workshop and yoga sessions provided a healthy dose of physical activity and mindfulness, supporting SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
The sustainable design challenge allowed students to explore eco-friendly solutions in urban environments, and organic urban farming teaches the importance of sustainable agriculture. Culinary enthusiasts savored European and Middle Eastern cuisine, while our Prague Castle tour provided a majestic backdrop for memorable experiences. Other engaging evening activities included pizza and quiz nights, buffet dinners, and a disco dance party — ensuring students experience the vibrant culture of Prague full on.
Empowering Insights from Participants
Of course, what really makes these exchanges so powerful are the student attendees who bring them to life. Reflecting on their experiences, students from around the world shared insights that underscored the transformative impact of Prague Spring.
Building Bridges: Akiv’s Journey of Friendship
Akiv, from Pathways World School in Gurgaon, India, reflected on the unexpected friendships forged during the trip. As a third culture kid, he found common ground with peers from diverse backgrounds, realizing the shared experiences that transcended borders.
“My parents signed me up for the trip without me knowing because it is something I would not normally do, but I actually enjoyed it a lot! I’ve made lots of new friends from different parts of the world, and this is something I did not expect. I discovered that I can actually relate to many people here. I studied in different countries and then returned to India just like other students here. We have many things in common that we can share.”

Empathy in Action: Annie’s Insights on Social Issues
Representing Tsukuba International School in Japan, Annie highlighted the program’s transformative effect on her perception of social issues. Through firsthand encounters with Prague’s homeless population, she developed a deeper sense of empathy and a commitment to effecting change in her own community.
“I would definitely recommend Prague Spring to other students. It’s an opportunity to learn more about other cultures and also about themselves. The homeless population in Japan is quite significant, but it is not really visible, so I did not really know what it is like for people. Now I can sympathize more, and I can work on some CAS projects to help them with their situation.”

Stepping Beyond: Roberto’s Path to Confidence and Connection
Hailing from Puebla American School in Mexico, Roberto discovered newfound confidence and connection through Prague Spring. Stepping out of his comfort zone, he embraced the opportunity to engage with peers worldwide, expanding his worldview in the process.
“On this trip, I discovered I’m not as shy as I thought. It has allowed me to make new connections and be proud of it. I could also see how I move around in a different setting, which is stepping out of my comfort zone, and it really brought me great results, I think. It’s really cool to create new connections around the world and to get new perspectives. I feel it widened my lens on the world.”

Prague Spring & Our Global Student Exchanges: More Than a Travel Experience
Prague Spring embodies the heart of CAS Trips’ mission — to empower students through experiential learning and meaningful engagement. The program nurtures a profound sense of global citizenship and responsibility, equipping students with the skills and perspective to effect positive change in the world.
Alongside Prague Spring, this year, we introduced two new Global Student Exchanges: Peru Discovery and Lisbon Adventure. Through all of our programming, we hope to continue to redefine student travel, transforming it into a catalyst for personal growth, cultural understanding, and social impact.
