The Destination

Full of culture, history, and delicious food, Mexico is truly a wonderful destination. Heritage is incredibly important in Mexico, so immersing yourself in a local community is a great way to discover indigenous culture while making a difference.

The Community

Communities along Mexico’s’ Oaxacan coast are closely connected to the Pacific Ocean and its many inhabitants. Escobilla is a small beach town that will welcome students through cultural workshops and time spent with local youth – alongside coordinating conservation efforts.

The Project

Over the past 2 decades, community members dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles have protected the nesting site of over 2 million turtles annually. Students will assist in a range of conservation practices aiding the well-being of the local ecosystem – We recommend coming during the waning moon to have the best chance at seeing turtles.
